Your trap speed and the fact that you stayed in 3rd tell me that you were probably right at the edge of 3rd/4th as you were crossing the traps. Before my car got a tuneup a few years ago, my power was down, my trap speed was low, and because of that I always was always about to cross the traps as I was at the end of 3rd. I didn't know if I should stay in 3rd or shift to 4th. After the tuneup, I had much more power, and I was at the end of third so far from the end of the track that staying in 3rd wasn't even an option. Now I'm in 4th for a good bit before I cross. So in other words, your car is lacking power first, and as a result that's why you're already at the end of the track by the time you have to shift. If you had more power, you'd reach the end of 3rd sooner and staying in 3rd wouldn't even be an option.
